San Diego liposuction:Considering Post Pregnancy Surgery? When to Consider a Mommy Makeover

Liposuction San Diego

Many new and experienced mothers can agree, although childbirth is a wonderful and beautiful event, the physical effects that pregnancy can have on a woman’s body can be difficult to overcome. For the past decade, mothers have been seeking surgical cures for the aftereffects of pregnancy in order to get their bodies back to their original, and in some cases, better than their original state.

In San Diego especially, plastic surgeons are seeing many more cases of mothers seeking plastic surgery to enhance their figures through what has been called a “Mommy Makeover.” Generally consisting breast lift with or without augmentation, tummy tuck, & liposuction San Diego mommy makeover patients are able to seek a customized cosmetic plan based on their concerns.

For example, in San Diego breast augmentation may be suggested for those mothers who experience loss of volume in their breasts due to breast feeding. Not all mothers express the same concern in this area. Some may consider a breast lift without augmentation in order to combat drooping, sagging breasts which do not suffer a loss of volume.

Likewise, for some mothers in San Diego liposuction may be employed for those who feel they have stubborn areas of fat which are not easily rid, even through rigorous diet and exercise. Meanwhile, a tummy tuck can rid the body of loose, sagging skin around the midsection which not all mothers may experience.

Pregnancy affects each woman differently. Age and genetics play a large role in how the body recovers, and not all mothers recover the same way. Younger mothers may find it easier to bounce back from pregnancy, since their skin is more elastic. With age, the skin’s elasticity slackens, so older mothers may be more of a candidate for tummy tuck surgery. Other mothers may have had only one child, so the effects are not as drastic as those that come with having two or more children.

San Diego cosmetic surgery experts agree, it is difficult for anyone to come back instantaneously from pregnancy. With the new stress of raising a child, most mothers have less time than ever before to dedicate to working out and eating right. And with the new expectations of today’s generation placed on men and women to look young and fit even in their later years, it’s no wonder mommy makeovers and other plastic surgery procedures are becoming more and more popular every year. If you live in or around the San Diego area and are interested in learning if you might be a candidate for a mommy makeover, call 619-216-8000 and schedule a free consultation.

  1. It's interesting to note that there is a rumor making the rounds on the internet that some celebrities are getting a tummy tuck done directly after delivering via c-section (it's being called a C-tuck). However, from what surgeons are saying about the topic this operation (if it is in fact being offered to some patients) is a bad idea. Waiting until a patient's body has rebounded from pregnancy as much as it is going to is best. That way, no more tissue is removed than absolutely necessary. Plus, who needs to be dealing with additional healing from an elective procedure with a newborn baby in the house?

  2. I agree that after pregnancy and childbirth, a woman's body changes forever. It's great that mommies can have a tummy tuck without being judged wrongly for it. What's wrong with wanting to look and feel great about your body? In the long run, it will make her a better wife and mother.
